New for 2008

This season sees the introduction of the dedicated Standing/Kneeling class, 2 extra reduced hit zone targets and the new pegless "disc" lanes.

Award Scheme

What's that all about then?

The emphasis of the league is to foster a relaxed and less competitive atmosphere. A reward scheme that encourages competitors to work toward improving their own personal performance but also provides a challenge to the more experienced competitors will be one of the central focuses of the competition. There are 4 merit badge levels based on an individuals score percentage in relation to the highest score of the day.

How can I win one?

The score requirements to win an award are based on the top score on the day in any class. Badges will be earned based on the following scores.

  • Bronze badge within 18 points of the top score (23 points for Junior, Recoiling and .22 classes)
  • Silver badge within 9 points of the top score (15 points for Junior, Recoiling and .22 classes)
  • Gold badge within 4 points of the top score (9 points for Junior, Recoiling and .22 classes)
  • Platinum badge for achieving the Gold standard in any 4 of the 6 events in a single season.

Open Class Award points

As you can see from the grid above, if the highest score of the day is 57 out of a possible 60, Gold awards will require a score of 53 or more, Silver awards will require a score of 48 or more and Bronze awards will require a score of 39 or more.

Junior, .22, Recoiling Class and Kneeling/Standing Award points

Extra dispensation is given to those shooting in .22, recoiling class (spring powered rifles), junior classes and those shooting in Kneeling/Standing class. This is to give everyone a fair chance of achieving an award.

From the above grid, if the highest score of the day (in any class) is 57 out of 60, Gold awards will require a score of 48 or more, Silver will require a score of 42 or more and bronze will require a score of 36 or more.

When can I collect my Badge?

Because the badges are awarded based on the top score for the day you will have to wait until the final scores from Round 2 are in and collated by the Stats office. This would not be until after 2-30pm at most competitions. Because of this you will have the choice to either buy a badge (assuming your score qualifies for one) at the Stats office after all stats are calculated or you will be able to buy the badge from the stats office at the next competition in the series.

How much will the Badge cost?

Badges cost £3 each. The first badge is free for junior competitors but any further badges they win will be charged at the normal rate.

Are there any restrictions on buying a badge?

Yes – each competitor will only be able to buy one badge at each event. You can buy a badge of a lesser merit to replace the one you actually achieved if you would like to collect the full set. So for example - if you had earned a Gold badge you could ask for a Silver or Bronze badge instead. Shooters who win a 4th Gold badge in that years competitions will be eligible for a Platinum Phoenix Badge. (They aren't required to buy 4 Gold badges, just achieve the Gold award standard at 4 events).

The Platinum Phoenix cannot be bought from the Stats office. It will be awarded free of charge at the end of that day's event.
